Nicholas Camacho and Guyana’s Jerezano Bell scored two goals each to lead Queen’s Park to its first win of the new T&T Hockey Board Men’s Championship Division season with a 7-0 win over Corona Fatima at the National Hockey Centre, Tacarigua, on Sunday.
The Parkites, beaten 4-1 by Notre Dame in their opener, took a 1-0 lead through Shawn Lee Quay in the 16th minute after which Camacho (26th) and Bell (32nd) added their names to the scoresheet for a 3-0 half-time lead.
Five minutes into the second half, Bell got his second, which was quickly followed by field goals from Kadeem Fortune (43rd), Camacho (52nd) and Dominic Young on the hour mark to condemn Fatima to its second loss from as many matches this season.
Also on Sunday, Kiel Murray made a triumphant return to competition with a brace in Paragon’s 3-0 shutout of Malvern.
Murray, who recently graduated from the Fire Service Training Academy, opened the scoring nine minutes into the second half while fellow national player Akim Toussaint doubled the lead two minutes later before Murray added a late second with two minutes left in the contest.
Paragon was even more lethal in the Trinity Men’s Division with a 12-0 pounding of Shape led by Chester Sealey’s beaver-trick (5th, 43rd, 48th, 54th) and a treble off the stick of Jebarry Perez (7th, 12th, 14th) on Tuesday.
However, in the Trinity Women’s competition, former national captain Carol Whiteman registered her first hat-trick of the campaign in her team’s 6-2 whipping of Paragon.
It was also a good weekend for Carib in the Mixed Veterans Division as it recorded convincing victories over Fatima (8-2) and Paragon (4-0).
In the win over Fatima, Kirk Adamson and Nigel Simon scored two goals each for the “Brewery Stickmen” while Samuel Carty, Andre Durant, Kern Ramsammy and Rafer Ross got one each.
But against Paragon, Kevin Adams got two and Durant and Robert Ramsammy, the others.
Notre Dame’s Scott Dopson got a hat-trick in a 9-0 drilling of Petrotrin and Queen’s Park trounced Paragon 9-0 with Gary Griffith and Raphael Govia also scoring trebles.
