The constituents of Chaguanas West went into a state of depression last night, Indra Maraj-Jagessar, secretary of the constituency, has said.
Maraj-Jagessar said people from all over T&T whose lives Warner had impacted were bombarding her phone and those of members of the executive after learning he had stepped down as Minister of National Security.
“Mr Warner sees hundreds of people monthly from across T&T and assists them,” she said.
Some of these people had been calling and I could hear the sorrow in their voices, some were crying and they wanted to come to the office and meet Mr Warner.”
Maraj-Jagessar said a lot of Warner’s supporters had indicated that they planned to visit his Caroni Savannah Road offices today as a show of solidarity with the MP.
She said she and the executive are yet to meet with Warner to discuss the way forward.
Chaguanas mayor Orlando Nagessar, who is also the local government representative for Felicity, said the people of Felicity were also “in mourning.”
He said news of Warner’s resignation “struck the people like a ton of bricks.”
Nagessar said, however, that he believes Warner will make a comeback since he was not the kind of man to be kept down.
